Dr. Philippa Pavia, VMD, DACVS-SA will be presenting on emergency surgery organized by body system (thorax, peritoneum, GI, etc.), covering specific surgical emergencies within those categories. This is from the perspective of a first-line practitioner at the time of triage tailored to relief vets in general practice and urgent care. You’ll learn to make quick, clinic decisions about next steps: when to cut immediately, when you can wait, and when you should refer or call-in an experienced surgeon. Client and team communication will be covered as an essential part of any emergency case.
