We are thrilled to announce Roo has now paid over $100 million to veterinarians since we first started this kangaroo a-hoppin’ in 2019.
We built Roo to improve the quality of life of veterinarians everywhere by helping vets earn more doing what they do best. This achievement is so much more than just a number — these are real dollars in the pockets of vets who trusted Roo as their partner.
Best of all, we’re not slowing down! There are more vets on our platform than ever before, earning record Roo rates!
A Milestone That Matters
Ultimately, everything that comes after the $ is just a number. What’s important to us is the impact this has on the lives of essential healthcare workers who care for our beloved four-legged family members. This is income that has helped vets:
- Pay off student loans so thousands of vets can live stress-free from debt and start saving for the future instead of spending on the past. According to the AVMA, the average student debt per veterinarian in 2022 was $147,258.
- Save for important life milestones like down payments on first homes, helping veterinarians everywhere lay the foundation for their dream lives.
- Support their family and experience all the joys that come from having kids. Daycare alone can often cost as much as a mortgage! Then, you’ve got to save for college and maybe even for vet school.
- And so much more! This is money towards peace of mind, a night out, and that dream vacation (that you can take whenever you want if you Roo full-time). It’s stress relief, joy, freedom, and love.
It’s our deepest hope that this $100 million, somewhere, turned a “we can’t afford it” into a “let’s do it!” That’s the difference we’re here to make.
How we got here
This is all you. There’s really no credit for us to take. It certainly helps that Roo vets earn nearly twice as much per hour as the average full-time vet and can earn over $1000 with a single shift. Being able to earn that much in just one day means you can take more time for everything else in your life and still reach your financial goals.
But that’s not the whole story. Far more importantly, Roo has the largest network of relief veterinarians and hospitals anywhere. There are now over 8,000 veterinarians using Roo with over 6,000 hospitals to choose from. And that choice is really important to us, too. Quality of life isn’t just about how much you earn, it’s how you earn it — where and when.
If being a veterinarian is the culmination of your life's passion, you should enjoy every second of it. The ability to practice at hospitals you enjoy working at and have control over your own work-life balance can both have a huge impact, and we’re happy to deliver.
Not to mention, this is pretty good news for all the puppos and kitties of America, too. Pet owners now have access to happier, healthier veterinary professionals who are better equipped to provide high-quality care for their fuzzy best friends.
